Now this is luxury! I got the opportunity to attend the Luxury Super Car Show this weekend - a BIG Thank You to Marnie for the tickets - and let me tell when it comes back to town - it's worth the trip and ticket price (only $20)

As chance would have it, the first car we saw upon entering was the very car I was trying
to find information about for my previous post.
Check this beauty out!
Future Vehicle Technologies brings us the eVaro. It is a high performance electric hybrid sports car.
FVT is a BC "Clean Tech" company whose mission it to improve the automobile and its impact on the earth through fuel economy research, CO2 emissions reduction and new concept vehicle development.
This two seated beauty looks like a fighter jet wi
th wheels instead of wings. It gets 165 mpg average highway, 275 mpg average city, 150 km range on electricity alone and onboard generator extends that range to 500 km. It costs only $13 to travel 1000 km. And that small detail I mentioned before - speed - this sexy beast will goes fast!!
Calling all moms who are tired of their mom buses (aka mini-vans). For a mere $114, 045 you could be the new owner of this outstanding BMW with red leather interior!!

The 2010 BMW X6 M is BMW's newest iteration of it's Sports Activity Vehicle. Rather than classifying the beauty as an SUV, BMW wanted to put the focus on performance. Drive your kids to school in luxury with lots of room for car seats and games and then leave everyone in your dust in this high performance vehicle.
I read a review lately on Toyota cars. Essentially what the reviewer was saying was Toyota has created a safe reliable fuel efficient brand and 99% of the time it sticks in that safe reliable zone. But about once a decade they let their party escape and it results in cars like the Celica or the MR2 Spyder. Cars with guts, style and Toyota reliability. They don't tend to last on the market because who thinks to look to Toyota for anything other than a nice fuel efficient car?
To prove this reviewers point we saw this!
I know - what is it right - a big monster truck. I didn't even take a good picture - just figuring it was some pimped out power truck. By the time I realised what it was I was so busy being surprised I only managed to take a picture of this . . .
This Toyota truck had a built in Play Station in the passenger glove compartment, a massive stereo and speakers under the back seats - can you imagine how that would feel to ride along on . . . and as you can see it dwarfed me.
There were lots and lots of Lamborghini's and as you can imagine not a wall flower in the lot. We're talking orange, yellow red . . . and pink. Here's the car barbie should have been driving!

There were cars we'd never heard of
- the Dino - turns out it's an old
school FerrariAnd cars my dad used to dream of - this sexy Jaguar!
Dad said he would happily take this Ferrari as it was one of the few sports cars with room for Sam - his dog - in the back seat.

On that note - in case you didn't know before - luxury sports cars are show pieces for you and your mate - or even just you. Kind of like the litters or chariots of old. A stylin' vehicle from which to be seen. Dad just happens to think that Sam is worthy of showing off too - and this required the Ferrari's slightly bigger back seat.
Before I move away from the luxury sports car I have to bow down in honour of the car that in my opinion is the definition of luxury. I had never heard of this car or it's maker before. There were no prices and I suspect that if you have to give price any consideration you should just move on. This is the Spyker.
Look at that detail, the dash looks like something from an old school fighter jet. The chrome is slick the leather smooth and each feature is totally unique.
1n 1914 the company that owned Spyker merged with a Dutch aviation company and for 75 years made stopped making cars and focused on airplanes and jets. In 2000 Spyker turned it's attention back to cars and keeping it's company moto in mind "to the tenacious no road is impassible" created a car that drew on their long history of racing vehicles and aviation. Spyker's are made individually for discerning drivers to their specifications. I believe their own website sums up the purchase process best:
Ok - enough drooling.
Next on the list were the super luxury cars for those that desire comfort - possibly have a driver and want their entrance noticed while remaining private on the trip.
The Bentleys.
These cars called to me to sit in them, they begged me to recline with champagne while my driver drove me to my premier. I had visions of my silk hair scarf blowing in the wind while I took a weekend mini-break with the top down in my GTC. These are the cars I'm sure I was meant to drive.
As you can imagine these cars represent only a drop in the oil pan of what we saw at the Luxury Super Car show. It was such a treat to see what some engineering and style could turn our Accords and Civics and Jetta's into.
I will likely never get to whisk away on that mini-break but I can look for and demand function, style and excellent engineering even in my downgraded model. Just ask any of the people who've stopped to ask me about my sexy Rabbit in the Safeway parking lot. :)
