The Thrill of Celebrity

Good Morning Drivers,

Last year we announced our opening with an ad in the Piffle - a great little humour magazine in New Westminster.  For one month the cover of this magazine was a funny picture of Winston and I making faces.  Winston did it - but wasn't happy and was mortified every time he walked into a shop and there was the magazine with his picture.  I on the other hand LOVED it!

Yes, I love making faces and I think I could handle fame!  LOL  Not big hollywood fame - moderate fame will do.  :)

As anyone who has bought a car will know, dealers surround your license with a plate cover that advertises their business.  We actually gave some thought to ours and made them white so they would stand out and be a bit unique.  For the first six months of business I never expected to see one of our plates on the road - I mean there are thousands if not millions of cars on the road - what are the chances.

About three months ago I saw a plate for another small dealer in our auto mall and since then I've been watching like a hawk.  I've joked that if I actually saw one of our plates I would probably crash into it or drive off of the road in my excitement.  Think about it - we've sold almost 70 cars but at least 20 or more of those have gone to Victoria, the interior or up north so that leaves less than 50 in the Lower Mainland - my chances were slim.

Fellow drivers - I am thrilled to announce that last night I saw my first plate!!!!  I was driving onto Granville Island when I saw it - I was so surprised that my first thought was what was Winston doing on Granville Island - it didn't even occur to me it was a car we had already sold.

I posted my excitement on the Winston Auto Group Facebook page and almost immediately a fan commented that she had seen a plate in her parking garage.

I know I probably sound half cracked and possibly a bit simple - but at Winston Auto Group we strive to make you feel like "you have arrived" and seeing that plate made me feel like we had arrived!

If you've seen one of our plates, let me know . . . feed my vanity.  LOL

Happy Driving!
