Hi Drivers!
When it comes to your life both could be important but for different reasons. Don't forget your toque when out and about in Canada's winter! Not sure why torque is important . . . let's figure it out.
Torque is the tendency of a force to rotate an object around an axle. See Wikipedia for complete definition. When vehicle specifications indicate how many pounds per foot of torque it is telling you how much power your vehicle has to get up and go. When you're merging onto the highway you want torque to get you moving.
On your next car shopping trip you will likely notice that torque is always listed along with horsepower this is because they work together. Torque is the power or strength behind your car but horsepower is the speed. Super strong torque that moves super slow is not of much use to you if you're trying to get up and go.
If you want to read more in depth on torque and how it works with horsepower, check out Canadian Driver.
Until next time, Happy Driving!
