Sexy cars boost guys' appeal; leave women stuck in neutral
So the study goes that both men and women were shown pictures of people of equal attractiveness of the opposite sex while sitting in either a Fiesta or a Bentley and for women the type of car seemed to make a difference in how attractive the man was.
They have all kinds of genetic reason as to why a woman would see signs of wealth more attractive - the most common one being we pay a higher reproductive cost so are better comparison shoppers (actually I kind of like that one).
They state that a car is a symbol of freedom and power and suggest that the reason men didn't find women more or less attractive in the different cars is because women don't associate cars with their success.
Based on my own personal experience that is simply not true. Furthermore, having worked in car sales for a whole 6 months I can tell you that women are very discerning shoppers and absolutely care about the image their choice will project.
Could it be that the men who conducted the study and the men who analyzed the results didn't consider that perhaps men aren't comfortable with the image of freedom and power associated with women? Perhaps a woman's attractiveness to a man is not altered by her car because men equate women's attractiveness to attributes other than power and freedom.
Or perhaps it's all just a coincidence. :)
Until next time, Happy Driving!
